On Monday, we had our twelve week check-up with the OB. It's hard to believe that the first trimester is coming to a close. Matt came to the appointment with me before heading to Arizona. While at the appointment, the doctor used the Doppler device to listen to the baby's heartbeat, which is always cool to hear. He seemed very pleased with the heartbeat and how I'm progressing. So far only about 2lbs of weight gain, but my belly appears MUCH more than that!!! Then we got a wonderful surprise... another sonogram!! Initially the baby was sleeping with the hand across their face and legs crossed.
However, after some prodding from the ultrasound technician, the baby arched their back and stretched the arms and legs (as if it was waking up) :) It was so amazing to see "human" behaviors so early in the development!! In the picture below you can see the back arching as compared to the top picture.
The tech then did a 4D ultrasound, which is one of the most amazing things ever! We never had it with Dylan, so it was really interesting to see how detailed everything was. This picture doesn't do it justice, but can give you an idea.
