EARTHQUAKE!

I'm sure most of you have heard about the earthquake that hit the east coast on Tuesday afternoon. Both Matt and I were at work when it happened. Matt's work was evacuated so they could assess structural damage. I was in the middle of treating patients and we took a few minute hiatus and then kept at it. It certainly was something neither of us had felt on this magnitude before. Many initially thought it was another terrorist attack, but after a few seconds realized it was an earthquake. People's reactions up and down the east coast varied: from near-hysteria to calm-cool-and-collected. The buildings shook for a good 20-30+ seconds.

Dylan and Parker were at daycare when the earthquake hit. Parker (our EXTREMELY light sleeper) slept through it!!! Dylan was in the middle of playing and was pretty unphased by it -- until our daycare provider realized it was an earthquake and she shoved all the kids under the table. Dylan did NOT like that and became very frightened and upset. But Taylor, an older girl at daycare, was able to calm him down, and he earned a sticker for being so brave! :)

Now it's time to hunker down and prepare for the next big thing: Hurricane Irene headed toward the east coast!
