Hurricane Irene

We survived! And actually, we fared VERY well.

Because we had ample warning that a hurricane was potentially coming, we made sure we were prepared with batteries, flashlights, candles, dry milk, canned foods, MREs (ready-to-eat meals from the army), laundry up-to-date, etc. We moved any potential flying debris from our yard. We then crossed our fingers and said a few prayers.

Hurricane Irene decreased in its severity to Category 1 and Tropical Storm (depending on the area) by the time it hit MD. The worst of it during the night with high winds and rain. I think we got up to 40-50mph winds during the night. We woke up in the morning to downed limbs and leaves everywhere, but we still had power and all the gutters and downspouts worked properly! YAY!
Dylan actually told us we needed to go clean up the mess when he saw the yard! :) All-in-all, we are very thankful we were "spared" by the storm. We also feel better prepared for future emergency situations.

We've had some crazy weather lately. Dylan has lived through a blizzard, an earthquake, and a hurricane!!!
