We had Parker's one year checkup today. Poor guy got 4 shots, which he did not like! At one year old they no longer give shots in their thighs, and he got them in his arms like a big boy. He looked like he had been through a battle with all his bandaids! :)
Here's his stats:
Height: 30.25 in (65th percentile)
Weight: 23lbs 12.9oz (60th percentile)
Head Circumference: 45.5cm (25th percentile)
They re-did his height and head circumference measurement twice today because both appeared to go down compared to last visit. We are guessing that it was measured wrong last time. Also at today's visit, both eyes tested "not normal" when they pointed the light in his eye. It wasn't abnormal, but it wasn't normal either. We have a follow-up appointment in one week to re-check his eyes. The doctor said sometimes babies can have "off" days, just like adults, and that's why he retests it before sending us to a specialist. Onto other more positive/exciting things:
*Parker has 4 teeth on top PLUS half a molar already, and 2 teeth on the bottom.
*He says ma-ma and da-da and other sounds
*He has a temper - especially when he doesn't get his way!
*He took his first official step a few weeks ago, but actually started walking part-way across a room on his birthday!! Over the past two days, he can now stand and turn a quarter-turn to continue taking steps without holding on. He can also squat down, pick something up, and then stand back up.
*He's a super speedy crawler and a master at cruising on the furniture.
*He makes "vroom" sounds while driving cars on the floor or table.
*He loves getting into anything he's not supposed to, including the dog bed and anything that Dylan is playing with.
*He absolutely adores Dylan and watches his every move. Dylan can make him laugh better than anyone else!
*He usually sleeps about 11 or 12 hours a night, but isn't as good a sleeper as Dylan was. He's a MUCH lighter sleeper and has a harder time falling back asleep if he wakes up.
*He usually takes one nap a day from 12-2pm, with a rare cat-nap for 15 min at 4pm.
*His favorite toys include stirring in the pots with the spoons. I'm hoping one day he'll make me amazing food!
*His other favorite toy is this play-telephone. He loves to pull it around by the string, and then try to lift it high in the air.
*He just learned how to put the ball in the castle.
*He's a pretty good eater, although definitely can be picky especially if the food takes too much effort to chew!
That's our Parker in a nut-shell! Happy 1st birthday! We love you!!
