Congrats to Officer Graves!!

After six long & hard months of studying, simulation training, working out, etc, my brother Mike graduated from the Montgomery County Police Academy! The recruiting process to get into the Academy is incredibly difficult. Approximately 850 people applied, and less than 40 were accepted. Mike was one out of 34 recruits to graduate!! Quite an honor! And it is also evidence of his dedication to the job and the hard work he put into the Academy. Of those 34 individuals, he was 3rd in his class for marksmanship! (We always knew he had good aim even as a young child. When he was about 3 years old, Mike was throwing rocks off a hill and hit Kevin in the head -- but according to Mike, "Kevin got in the way." I guess that experience helped him in the Police Academy!) :) Mike also received another HUGE honor at graduation. He was ranked 3rd in his class overall!!!!! Way to go Mike!!! Mike now has 14 weeks of field training (which can be just as difficult as the Academy), but I know he will do extremely well. He will be paired with a field training officer during his shift, and that officer will teach and guide him to be the best officer he can be. We are all very proud of him and support him 100% during the upcoming weeks (and years)!
